Corey Lee Wrenn
Ms. Wrenn is a part-time Instructor of Sociology with Colorado State University where she is also an A.B.D. Ph.D. She is also a full-time Lecturer of Sociology with Monmouth University. She received her M.S. in Sociology in 2008 and her B.A. in Political Science in 2005, both from Virginia Tech. She was awarded Exemplary Diversity Scholar, 2016 by the University of Michigan s National Center for Institutional Diversity. She is a council member of the American Sociological Association s Animals & Society section and an advisory board member with the International Network for Social Studies on Vegetarianism and Veganism with the University of Vienna. She contributes to theHuman-Animal Studies Images and Cinema blogs for the Animals and Society Institute and has been published in several peer-reviewed academic journals including the Journal of Gender Studies, the Journal of Agriculture & Environmental Ethics, Food, Culture & Society, and Society & Animals. In July 2013, she founded the Vegan Feminist Network, an academic-activist project engaging intersectional social justice praxis. Her forthcoming book, A Rational Approach to Animal Rights: Extensions in Abolitionist Theory, will publish with Palgrave Macmillan in 2015.
This is a survey course in human societies and cultures, social issues of class, gender, species, and race/ethnicity, and social institutions such as the economy, politics, education and health.
