Sara is a Master s student in the Department of Sociology at Colorado State University, Graduate Research Assistant for the Center for Disaster and Risk Analysis, graduate certificate student with the Center for Women's Studies & Gender Research, Victim Assistance Team volunteer with the Women & Gender Advocacy Center, and Co-Editor of the American Sociological Association s newsletter section on Children & Youth. With Dr. Lori Peek she helped to create the Children and Disasters Annotated Resource List for a special issue on children and disasters for the journal Children, Youth, and Environments. Her current thesis research with advisor Dr. Peek, funded by the Federal Emergency Management Agency and Save the Children, examines the disaster preparedness of over 4,000 childcare centers and homes in Colorado through an online survey and interviews. She is passionate about discovering ways for all people to feel safe and valued. She is also a dog lover!
