Janelle Ashley Viera is a Ph.D. candidate in Sociology at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Her research uses a comparative, multi-method approach to examine racial formation, incorporation, and inequality among Latinx populations in the Americas. Her current project investigates the ways that generation and place shape racial formation among Puerto Ricans living in New York City and Orlando, Florida.
