Sociology Professors and Their Teams Win Highly Competitive Research Awards

Drs. Michael Carolan and Jeni Cross are Co-PIs of two winning Catalyst for Innovative Partnerships (CIP) teams sponsored by the Office for the Vice President for Research (OVPR). These highly competitive research awards of $200,000 each for three years were presented to five interdisciplinary teams of researchers from across the colleges of CSU. RURAL WEALTH CREATION: EXPLORING FOOD SYSTEMS-LED DEVELOPMENT STRATEGIES 

Dr. Michael Carolan, Co-PI Dr. Becca Jablonski (Agricultural and Resource Economics, Food Systems Extension) and their research team project seek to understand how food system strategies can contribute to social, cultural, human, political, physical, natural, and financial capital in rural communities.

ENRICHED ENVIRONMENTS FOR THE HEALTHY AGING BRAIN 

Dr. Jeni Cross, PI Dr. Deana Davos (Psychology) and Co-PIs Agniescza Z. Burzynska (Molecular, Cellular and Integrative Neurosciences), Dr. Laura Malinin (Design & Merchandising), Dr. Lindsey Wilhelm (Music, Theatre and Dance) and Dr. Wendy Wood (Occupational Therapy) are expanding their team’s B Sharp research program. B Sharp is a highly-innovative interdisciplinary, community-initiated program research effort designed to improve the quality of life for people with dementia and their caregivers.
