Owen joined the Department of Sociology at Colorado State University in 2023. Right now, Owen is a graduate teaching instructor for Sociology of Law (SOC 455) and Green Criminology (SOC 359). His currently research focuses on the relationship between political identity, attitudes toward democracy, and democratic erosion. Previously, Owen has also investigated how state-sponsored disinformation shapes the distribution of democratic attitudes across countries. Additionally, he has examined how economic evaluations mediate the effect of economic conditions on vote preferences.
