Biography
Catherine Venegas-Garcia (she/her) is a Master’s student in Colorado State University’s Department of Sociology. She graduated from Southern Oregon University with a B.S. in Criminal Justice and a minor in Philosophy. During her time there, she helped co-author multiple research articles and book chapters with her McNair faculty mentor. Her academic interests revolve around extremism and extremist beliefs, racial and ethnic discrimination, issues within the criminal justice system, and social inequality. Currently, she is pursuing research on law enforcement organizational structure, police decertification, and “wandering” officers.
