Pat Mahoney

Senior Teaching Appointment

I have had the opportunity to be affiliated with the department of sociology here at CUS since the late 1980s, having received my Master and PhD here, later in 2007 accepting a position as Senior Teacher in the department, a position I currently hold. In between degrees I worked as an academic advisor in CSU’s HELP/Success Center.  Teaching and working with students is my passion.  To be a University educator is both a privilege and responsibility, neither of which I take lightly.  I consider the classroom to be at the epicenter of university life and should be an environment for personal exploration, lively discussion, and critical engagement with issues of the day.  Currently, some of the areas I teach in are contemporary and classical sociological theory, the latter at the graduate level.  Additionally, I instruct our Senior Capstone Seminar, as well as work in the substantive areas of Health and Medicine as well as Technology, Work and Leisure.
