Sociology Chair and Professor Dr. Tara Opsal and colleagues have received funding to reestablish The Center for the Study of Crime and Justice as an interdisciplinary and community-rooted institute that will bring together faculty, students, practitioners, agencies, and stakeholders across Colorado to collaborate on improving criminal justice reform, addressing systemic inequalities, and providing technical assistance and evaluation to government and non-profit agencies via participatory processes.
Dr. Jeff Nowacki, Associate Professor of Sociology, and Dr. Jessie Harney, Assistant Professor of Political Science, will also be involved along with a Sociology Ph.D. student, faculty from other colleges on campus, an affiliate from the University of Northern Colorado, and potentially additional faculty from regional institutions. CSU’s Office of the Vice President for Research (OVPR) is providing funding.
