Kayla M. Hoskins is a PhD Candidate (ABD) in the School of Criminal Justice at Michigan State University, with a cognate in community psychology. Her research is oriented within feminist and critical criminological paradigms. Broadly, her work explores the intersectional experiences of adults and youths involved in the criminal and juvenile legal systems utilizing qualitative and mixed-methods. More specifically, her research investigates issues of gender, race, trauma, personal agency and desistance, and has implications for advancing gender-responsive and trauma informed correctional approaches. Previously, she served as the Assistant Director of Youth Advancement Through Athletics (YATA), a multifaceted development program for adjudicated adolescents. She earned her B.A. in Psychology and M.S. in Criminal Justice from Michigan State University.
